Shipt offers free trials for Visa credit cardholders

Delivery company Shipt will begin offering temporary free memberships to millions of Visa credit cardholders to try out free deliveries.

This is one of many changes the Target-owned company has announced in recent months as part of its efforts to continue to grow following the rapid adoption of delivery services by consumers during the pandemic. .

Depending on the level of the credit card, users will be able to purchase trial subscriptions, meaning they won’t be charged a shipping fee for orders of $ 35 or more. Visa Infinite, the highest tier of Visa cards, can sign up for a free three-year membership; Three-month Visa Signature cardholders plus nine-month half-price membership. All other Visa cardholders will get a one-month trial subscription, plus three months at half price.

“On-demand delivery has become an essential and valuable part of the shopping experience for many Americans,” said Brian Cole, Visa’s product manager for North America, in a statement. To register for the benefit, visa holders must visit shipt.com/visa.

Other delivery companies have also partnered with credit card companies. Instacart, for example, offered a promotion with Mastercard.

Visa’s share of outstanding credit, debit and prepaid cards compared to Mastercard was 65.9% last year, according to the Nielsen report. In the United States, Visa credit card volume far exceeds other general purpose credit brands.

Shipt primarily offers grocery delivery, but has expanded to stores such as CVS, and also provides electronics, pet supplies, and alcohol in a variety of stores. Shipt subscriptions cost $ 99 per year; Shipt users can also pay per order or for a small group of Shipt passes.

The business grew rapidly during the pandemic, tripling its number of buyers to around 300,000 independent contractors.

Shipt recently updated its services to allow customers to create lists of preferred buyers as well as select their dietary preferences.
